Fascinating mountain is it not?

If there is one word that writers seem to use when describing the Matterhorn, the beauty that towers over Zermatt  in Switzerland and Cervinia in Italy, it is "fascinating." Case in point; there is a new book out by the Zermatt Bergbahn Company, These are he folks who developed and operate the trains, cable cars and various other forms of mountain transport in Zermatt.  They have a new book out called "The story of a fascination" that tells of the history of Zermatt going back-wait for it- 250 million years. The book though is beautifully illustrated and informative; plus it tells its story in no leas than four languages. Whether you are in the business of reporting on this car free resort or indeed just are looking for a knowledge packed souvenir of your trip we can recommend this book. It tells the story not only of the history of tourism in Zermatt but the history of transportation development in the resort. In addition it is most informative about things to do, places to go and probably people to see. It is only 19 SFR and methinks on sale in most Zermatt hotels.

Another, much more expensive entry in the "Fascination Matterhorn"  theme park is the book by Beat Perren that bears the same name. This too is peppered with marvelous photos and portrays the writer's love and yes, fascination over the years with this stunning mountain. This however is a more expensive and greatly treasured coffee table number. It is on sale in Zermatt bookstores and well worth adding to your conversation pieces at home.

Both books are, well, fascinating.
